House Numbering
House numbers, along with a road name, are used for the identification of homes and businesses for Emergency 9-1-1 service. House numbers are not assigned for vacant lots.
For the display of house numbers, it is suggested that numbers be 7.5 to 13 cm (3 to 5 inches) high. Dark numbers on a white background is best. It is also recommended that the numbers be approximately 1.2 metres (4 feet) off the ground and out of the path of snow clearing equipment.
A house number is issued based on the location of a home on a property. To issue a house number, we need to know how many feet or meters the home is/will be from the front lot line (your property line along the road) and how many feet or meters the home is/will be from one of the side lot lines. Based on this information, along with the driveway location, a house number/road name can be issued.
Every home should be assigned a number. If you do not have a number, or would like us to confirm your number, please contact us.
