Paper
Reduce
- Carry a reusable ceramic or plastic mug for purchasing beverages instead of using paper cups.
- When purchasing only one or two items, refuse a bag or carry a reusable bag when shopping.
- Buy in bulk and avoid those products that are over packaged.
- Try and produce reports or photocopies that are double sided.
- Edit reports on the computer screen and avoid printing off too many draft copies
- Share magazine and newspaper subscriptions or better yet, go to the libary to read your favorite periodical or book.
Reuse
- Use the clean side of waste paper as a scratch pad, for doing draft work or as colouring paper for the kids.
- Share copies of magazines and books with colleagues and friends or donate them to a senior's home or to a non-profit organization for use in their reception area.
- Save wrapping paper and ribbons for wrapping other gifts.
- Use cardboard boxes for storing items or for moving.
- Check out used book stores and thrift shops for bargains.
Recycle
- Favour those products with a recycled content.
- In our Regional District, virtually all paper fibre can be recycled at a residential drop-depot or by taking paper to a private collection facility
- Buy those paper products that are easily recyclable- avoid paper products with a wax, plastic or foil coating.
