Waste Reduction for Business
The Regional District has prepared a waste audit package for business. The support materials are available from Environmental Services and can assist in purchasing policy evaluation, waste materials management and internal handling processes. The voluntary waste audit package is designed to help businesses develop procurement policies, identify reuse and local recycling opportunities, and demonstrate an economic comparison between traditional "toss and haul" and progressive waste management approaches to business.
BC Materials Exchange Service
Does your business generate waste materials that you don't need? One option is to contact the BC Materials Exchange Service (MEX) operated by the Recycling Council of BC. The MEX offers a listing service designed to match waste generators with others who may have use for residual materials.
Industrial, Commercial and Institutional (ICI)
Processing Plant
The Regional District works with the regional ICI sector to provide long term, practical recycling opportunities for residents in the district. The plant operated by Crown Packaging Ltd. at 1015 Great Street, Prince George, receives processes and markets program recyclables. Recycling revenue potential and avoidance of landfill tipping fees encourages source separation of recyclables and use of the recycling plant by the regional ICI sector. Call Cascades Recover Inc. at 563-0233 for more information.
