9-1-1 Emergency Service

Individuals requiring the services of police, fire or ambulance need only dial 9-1-1.

The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George provides 9-1-1 services to all municipalities and electoral areas of the Fraser-Fort George and Cariboo Regional Districts as well as a portion of Electoral Area F of the Bulkley-Nechako Regional District. The 9-1-1 service area covers 132,000 square kilometers and will grow to 225,5000 square kilometers with the expansion of services to the Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine in 2007.

Personnel at the 9-1-1 Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP), located within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police North District Operational Communications Centre (OCC), determine the nature of the emergency and transfer the caller to the appropriate response agency.

The 9-1-1 Emergency Service also includes fire/rescue radio dispatch and communication. The Fire Operations Communications Centre (FOCC) located in City of Prince George Fire Hall No. 1 dispatches more than 50 fire/rescue agencies .
