Emergency Planning

The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George (RDFFG) Emergency Response and Recovery Plan was approved in January 2006. The Plan provides a hazard risk assessment and operational guidelines to manage significant emergency events in the seven electoral areas of the RDFFG.

The Emergency Response and Recovery Plan provides guidance for dealing with emergency response and recovery situations which may arise within the electoral areas of the RDFFG. Specific Local Emergency Plans are being prepared for approximately 50 local communities or areas within the RDFFG electoral areas. These Local Emergency Plans focus on the needs of individual communities, identifying specific hazards, evacuations routes and resources unique to those communities.

When an emergency event cannot be handled by local resources the RDFFG will open its Emergency Operations Centre. The Emergency Operations Center is part of a provincial (and federal) network of Emergency response centres designed to coordinate response to, and recover from, an emergency event. The RDFFG's Emergency Operations Centre coordinates with the Provincial Emergency Program and the Provincial Regional Operations Centre in Prince George.

Emergencies can strike at any time. Be prepared. For more information on Emergency Preparedness for you and your family, visit the Provincial Emergency Program website.
