In a referendum held on June 21, 2014, electors along the East Line in Electoral Area F voted on whether they were in favor of the establishment of a taxable service that would assist in funding the operating costs of the East Line Activity Centre and future community facilities along the East Line. Official voting results show that 81 people votes yes, while 26 voted no.
At the July 12, 2014 Board meeting, the Board approved the adoption of the East Line Community Facilities Service Establishment Bylaw No. 2894, 2014. Since that time, School District No. 57 and the Regional District have been involved in developing an agreement that identifies the terms and conditions involved in the planning and programming of curricular, extra-curricular and community use of the East Line Activity Centre.
